A "Port Hand Day Beacon"

* with a black or green colored square centered on a white background with a green reflecting border; and
* may display an odd number made of white reflecting material.
A "Starboard Hand Day Beacon"

A "Range Day Beacons"
* These beacons are a very important part of Aids to Navigation.
* They are always built in pairs.
* They usually mark the centreline of a channel.
* The rear range mark is higher than the front one.
* They are rectangular, twice as tall as wide, and have a central vertical stripe.
* When range marks are lined up ("in range"), that means that you are on the line of position they mark.
* To navigate through the channel maintain a course that keeps one marker aligned top and bottom with the other. The recommended course is when the two markers are lined up vertically.
