How come my Second Life game keeps crashing?

Whenever I open my Second Life game it crashes a couple minutes later. The screen gets all pixelated , like waves of pixels and I have to restart my computer. I never used to do this. Whats wrong? I reinstalled the game. Should I make another character? Please help.
